Dream Cruises invited me to teach character illustration and life drawing workshops on board the cruise vessel Genting Dream between Nov 2017 and Jan 2018. I had a wonderful time sharing my love of illustration with the guests on board.
One of the most humbling moments was when an older gentleman approach me to say that he'd always disliked art lessons during his school days, and he didn't even plan to participate in my class at first, only watch. But, when offered a piece of paper and drawing tools, he decided to give illustration a chance and thanked me for the positive experience, telling me that he learnt something that day.
Another lady was kind enough to let me know that my systematic approach to drawing had helped her understand proportions and construct her own illustrations much more easily.
These photographs of my workshops were captured by Pang Yun Jing.
My Final Year Project (2015 – 2016) at the School of Art, Design & Media. The Locke Diaries is the immersive tale of Paul Edmund Locke, a physician with a mysterious past. The book itself is accompanied by a deck of fortune-telling cards based on Greek mythological figures.
Final production of The Locke Diaries featured translucent layering of illustrations to reveal anatomical details, and copious amounts of gold foil.
